United Therapeutics is continuing to buy properties near its downtown Silver Spring corporate headquarters at 1040 Spring St.
Dewey Steadman, director of investor relations for the drug manufacturer, confirmed a report in the Washington Business Journal of the purchase of 8905 Fairview Rd. for $11.85 million, including a parking lot across the street.
The company has no current plans for the property.
The building, which is 33,930 square feet, currently houses The Eye Surgery Center LLC, and Seeking Employment, Equality and Community for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, among other tenants.
SEEC is listed as the seller, according to the Journal report.
UT most recently purchased the site of the former Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites at 8728 Colesville Rd., where it intends to build additional office space.
