The Breakfast Club Near Opening: “Just Two More Inspections”

The Breakfast Club is very close to opening in downtown Silver Spring, according to owner Jason Miskiri.

“Just two more inspections,” Miskiri said in a message to the Source. Miskiri said he is currently planning on opening the week of November 21.

Located at 8240 Fenton St. in downtown Silver Spring, The Breakfast Club will be adjacent to the upcoming Black Lion Café, which had been scheduled to open on November 1.

Miskiri previously said that the restaurant will offer an upscale breakfast dining experience under the slogan “eat local.” Most of the menu items will be sourced locally.

The restaurant, named in honor of Miskiri’s late father, whom his family called Papa Sherman, will have “breakfast all day with lunch and dinner items” instead of a rumored vegan concept, Miskiri said to the Source last January. “I waved the vegan concept to another time.”

Miskiri previously said that The Breakfast Club would feature an all-day breakfast, including mimosas, alongside “Southern American with a twist of Caribbean” cuisine. Bethesda Beat reported in January that the menu would include omelets, French toast stuffed with cream cheese and strawberries, and pancakes, as well as heavier entrees, such as lamb chops, chicken and waffles, and shrimp and grits.

The Breakfast Club will be Miskiri’s third restaurant in downtown Silver Spring; he opened The Angry Jerk on Georgia Ave. last year. Miskiri opened Society Restaurant & Lounge in 2012, which he co-owns with his sister, Samantha Khamis-el-Miskiri. The building housing Society was placed for sale last May.

The restaurant is the latest in a slate of fall business openings in downtown Silver Spring, including the aforementioned Black Lion CaféCitizens&CultureFirepan Korean BBQ, as well as the recently-opened Kusshi Sushi and Sashe’s Dominican Beauty Salon & ICU Beauty Bar.
