Detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division have identified the body of a pregnant woman discovered last week in a White Oak apartment.
Denise Middleton, 26, was allegedly murdered by Torrey Damien Moore in October of this year, MCPD said in a press release. Police discovered Middleton’s body on December 9 as they executed a search warrant for a homicide committed by Moore on December 8.
Moore’s apartment at 11235 Oak Leaf Drive had been searched following the shooting death of 61-year-old Ayalew Wondimu, who worked at the Dash In Convenience Store located in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave.
Middleton’s body was found in the bedroom, in an advanced state of decomposition, and taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Middleton was approximately 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. The fetus, a boy, would have lived had Middleton delivered at that time. The autopsy also revealed that Middleton had been shot multiple times.
Moore has been charged with murder in the first degree for the death of Middleton, murder in the first degree for the death of a viable fetus, and a crime of violence against a pregnant woman. He is currently being held without bond.
