Suspect Arrested for October Shooting in Downtown Silver Spring

Detectives from the county’s Third District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 26-year-old Keshawn Simpson, of Silver Spring, for his involvement in a shooting that occurred in downtown Silver Spring last October.

At approximately 10:36 a.m. on Oct. 24, officers from the Third District responded to the intersection of Fenton St. and Ellsworth Dr. in response to a report of shots fired.

Detectives conducted a preliminary investigation and determined that there were two Black males shooting at one another.

As a result of the investigation, detectives identified Simpson as one of the suspects and obtained an arrest warrant for him. During the morning of Friday, Dec. 16, an officer attempted to pull Simpson over to serve the warrant, but Simpson fled, according to an MCPD news release.

Simpson was located and arrested Tuesday. He was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit for first-degree assault and firearm-related charges. He is currently being held without bond.

The second suspect is still outstanding.
