Local flea market favorites DC Pretzel Company have been overwhelmed by the community’s response to the launch of their online ordering website, according to a post on the outlet’s Instagram account.
“We’re (literally) overwhelmed by your support and interest in DC Pretzel Company!”, the post reads. “Who knew there were so many of you in the DMV, like us, who crave a delicious, freshly baked soft pretzel?!
“While our goal is to make our soft pretzels available to everyone, we are currently limited by how many pretzels and pretzel rolls we can produce and serve in a given weekend, without compromising our high quality standards. As we continue to expand our operation, availability will become less of a concern. In the meantime we apologize to those who wanted to place an order this weekend and were either limited in their choices or found that we had sold out.
“Based on this and some limitations in our online ordering software (which we are currently addressing), orders for the next coming weekends will each become available the preceding Sunday evening at 9:00 pm ET. We want to emphasize that our intention is not to create scarcity, and this situation will be temporary! Should you have any questions, please email us at [email protected].
“Thank you for your patience and understanding!”
Located at 2341 Distribution Circle, the bakery was formerly home to Silver Spring Wings, which recently reopened in Wheaton.
A product of the pandemic, DC Pretzel Company was founded in 2021 by Philadelphia transplants. “With lockdowns in place, time on our hands and hunger for pretzels in our stomachs, we developed and perfected our own unique soft pretzel recipe,” according to their website. “Friends and family became our first taste-testers. The smiles and feedback were so inspiring, that we set out to share our pretzels with the rest of the world. As we continue to expand our operations and capabilities, it is our goal to make our pretzels accessible to everyone!”
Additionally, the bakery makes pretzels specifically for donation to local food banks on Sundays.
Orders may be placed online for pickup between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
