Montgomery County Police say that a physician has been arrested and charged with rape and a sexual assault that occurred at an urgent care facility in Silver Spring.
It is believed that there may be more victims of the 58-year-old doctor, and detectives from the county’s Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking them to come forward.
In two separate cases, two female victims claim that Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik groped, inappropriately touched, and sexually assaulted them during routine examinations. The assaults occurred at Advanced Walk-in Urgent Care, located at 10800 Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring.
SVID detectives obtained a warrant for Malik’s arrest. He was taken into custody outside of his Lockwood Dr. medical practice on Thursday, Feb. 16, according to an MCPD press release.
Malik is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree sexual offenses. Currently, he is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit awaiting a bond hearing.
In light of the above incidents, SVID detectives believe that there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Malik who have not contacted the police. Detectives are urging anyone who believes themselves to be a victim to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at (240) 773-5400.
