Suspects Sought in Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery in Downtown Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in an attempted strong-arm robbery that happened in downtown Silver Spring on Wednesday afternoon.

Third District officers responded to the 8500 block of Colesville Rd. at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday following a report of an attempted strong-arm robbery, according to MCPD:

The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was walking north in the 8500 block of Colesville Road when two unknown female suspects approached her from behind. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s hair, pulled her down to the ground and began striking the victim in the upper body and head, while the second suspect attempted to take the victim’s jacket. Unable to remove the victim’s jacket, the suspects verbally threatened the victim and then fled the area on foot.

The suspects are described as two Black females with medium skin tones. The first suspect is described as heavy set, wearing a blue jean jacket, black pants and a bonnet on her head. The second suspect is described as slender with braces on her teeth, wearing a white long sleeve shirt, black pants, black and white sneakers and a bonnet on her head.
