Silver Spring Man Arrested in Home Invasion, Shooting

Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged 27-year-old Saatehu Mesutmen of Silver Spring in connection with last year’s home invasion and shooting of a 58-year-old woman.

Mesutmen has been charged with home invasion and first-degree attempted murder following an alleged shooting at the victim’s residence in the 13200 block of Stravinsky Terrace on Monday, April 11, 2022.

As a result of the investigation, detectives discovered that Mesutmen fired multiple shots through a sliding glass door in the back of the house. He then entered the residence and shot the victim, to whom Mesutmen had no connection, according to an MCPD press release.

After being transported to a local hospital in critical condition, the victim was treated in the intensive care unit and later released.

Detectives identified Mesutmen as the alleged shooter and requested a warrant for his arrest on May 5.

Mesutmen is currently being held in Prince George’s County on unrelated charges and is expected to be extradited to Montgomery County.
