Planet Fitness will open new locations at 2201 Randolph Rd. in Wheaton and at 6881 New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park, according to a company announcement.
Construction will begin soon on the new gyms, which will be located in shopping centers with Lidl grocery stores. The two locations are expected to open by the end of the year.
“We heard the community demand and are thrilled to increase our presence in Montgomery County,” said C. Victor Brick, co-owner of Ohana Growth Partners in a press release. “We’ve experienced an outstanding response from the other clubs in the area and look forward to introducing two more Judgement Free facilities, where members can work out to improve their physical and mental health in a non-intimidating environment.”
The area is home to over 20 Planet Fitness gyms, including one that opened in downtown Silver Spring in 2017. Ohana Growth Partners, headquartered in Timonium, owns and operates 75 Planet Fitness health clubs in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Tennessee, Florida, Washington, and California, according to its LinkedIn page.
