Police Investigating Homicide at Silver Spring Ave. Garage; Victim Identified

Montgomery County Police say they are investigating a homicide that occurred early Saturday morning at a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring.

Police officers from the Third District responded at approximately 2:40 a.m. Saturday, July 8, to the Montgomery County Public Parking Garage 3 in the 900 block of Silver Spring Ave. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 21-year-old Kymani Elijah Bailey of Baltimore suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the first floor of the garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an MCPD news release.

Major Crimes detectives responded to the location and are investigating this homicide. During the course of the investigation, detectives discovered that Bailey had walked into the parking garage after leaving a nearby restaurant. There was an unknown suspect who approached Bailey and began shooting at him.

It is too early in the investigation to provide suspect information, MCPD said.
