A kitchen fire at the Lenox Park Apartments building in downtown Silver Spring on Thursday evening caused two people to be transported to a burn center and displaced five residents, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer.
Around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, fire personnel responded to a cooking fire in a kitchen on the 11th floor of Lenox Park Apartments at 1400 East-West Highway. According to MCFRS radio communications (reported by MoCo360), three patients were evaluated and two were transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment of their burn injuries.
Five occupants were forced to evacuate after the fire, which was contained by sprinklers, Piringer said.
