Government Shutdown Specials, Wine and Jazz Dinner at All Set, J. Hollinger’s

All Set Restaurant & Bar in downtown Silver Spring will offer specials to federal employees and contractors in the event of a government shutdown this weekend.

Federal employees and contractors who provide ID will be able to enjoy all-day happy hour at All Set. Happy hour menu items range from $2 oysters on the half shell to $8 house cocktails and $20 fishbowl cocktails. Chef Ed Reavis’s bar bites menu also includes Pulled Pork Sliders topped with pickled zucchini, coleslaw, and North Carolina BBQ sauce, Loaded Sweet Potato Fries topped with cheddar, gruyere, parmesan, and Money Muscle BBQ beef brisket, and Chickpea Fries with avocado lime ranch dipping sauce.

All Set’s full happy hour menu is offered Tuesday through Sunday.

Additionally, Marcus Johnson will perform at a wine and jazz dinner at J. Hollinger’s restaurant in downtown Silver Spring on Sunday, October 8. A few of Johnson’s FLO wines will also be featured at the event.

Reserved seating tickets start at $25 and require a minimum of $40 spent on food and beverages per person. The event’s website has more information and reservations.

Johnson is an independent Billboard-ranked jazz keyboardist, music producer, and NAACP Image Award nominee. Currently, he is the director of FLO “For the Love Of” brands, which houses both a music and wine label. In addition to Marimelj Entertainment Group (a company he co-founded with BET founder Robert L. Johnson), he is also the CEO and president of Three Keys Music and Three Keys Publishing. Marcus Johnson graduated from Montgomery Blair High School, co-founded the Silver Spring Jazz Festival, and lives in Silver Spring.

Owned by Jerry Hollinger of The Hollinger Group (The Daily DishThe Dish and Dram), J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse opened in May of last year in the former home of The Classics at 8606 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring. Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema praised J. Hollinger’s in his 2022 review, noting that the restaurant “serves up accessible luxury”. Recently, Eater named J. Hollinger’s newly-added, all-you-can-eat brunch buffet as one of the area’s hottest new brunches.
