The Eleanor Silver Spring’s bowling lanes are up for auction with a starting price of $10,000, according to a report from Robert Dyer.
The AMF Highway 66 Mini Bowling System includes five lanes, five monitors, five tablets, three ball returns, five pinsetters, lighting, balls, a bunch of manuals, spare new bowling balls, spare parts, and much more.
The overall dimensions of the lanes are 302.5 inches wide and 349 feet long. The equipment behind the lanes extends approximately 36 inches, and the tablets in front of the lanes extend approximately 16 inches.
The buyer is responsible for removing the lanes from The Eleanor. Extra time will be given for the removal and installation process which must be concluded within two weeks of the auction closing date.
The auction closes Thursday at 11 a.m.
The Eleanor permanently closed its location at 931 Ellsworth Dr. in Downtown Silver Spring in June. The bowling lounge, bar, and grille opened in February 2020 in the former home of Lincoln’s Bar-B-Que, which closed in 2018. Adam Stein, the managing partner and face of the ownership team, said he first got the idea for “a bowling alley that had elevated food and beverage offerings” when he was a student at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
“We were trying to find something that kind of sounded fun, sounded classy, a little bit unusual,” Stein said to the Source in 2020. “We started off kind of thinking about goofy bowling-associated names, but decided maybe that wasn’t the best for the type of place we were thinking about opening.”
The original location of The Eleanor at 100 Florida Ave. NE in the District remains open.
