Catalyst Hot Dogs to Open Concession Stand at University of Maryland’s Xfinity Center

Catalyst Hot Dogs is continuing its mission of “Bringing the Jersey Dog to the DMV” — this time at the University of Maryland’s Xfinity Center.

In an Instagram post on Monday, owner Chris Van Jura announced the concession stand would open for the upcoming basketball season, which begins November 6:

Catalyst Hot Dogs has quickly gained popularity since launching in Silver Spring in 2020. In January, the hot dog cart took over Denizens Brewing Co.’s kitchen in Riverdale Park to expand their dream of opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant; in September, Maryland women’s soccer freshman Madison Krakower signed her first-ever Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) deal with the company.

Van Jura also appeared on a July 2021 episode of NPR’s The Indicator from Planet Money, which discussed businesses that began as a result of COVID-19. “Somehow, an opportunity was thrust upon me,” Van Jura said. “Forgive me, William Shakespeare. And we’re able to do something, you know? I’m trying to make it great. We really are. And we’re having a lot of fun, so – I will say (laughter), contrary to the emotions I’m having right now, I’m very happy.”

The MoCo Show first reported the concession stand’s opening.
