Mojomala to Open Dec. 2 in Downtown Silver Spring

Mojomala Books, Records & Cool Stuff is set to open on Saturday, December 2 in downtown Silver Spring.

The shop, which is located near Silver Branch Brewing Co. in the Silver Spring Metro Plaza building at 8401 Colesville Road, will be having its grand opening from Noon to 7 p.m. In celebration of the opening, Mojomala will be offering a 20% discount on all items, as well as providing light refreshments and giveaways.

Additionally, customers will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a free copy of Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” vinyl record.

Mojomala is a family-owned independent boutique, specializing in a thoughtfully selected assortment of both new and used books, vinyl records, novelties, and gifts. Initially, Mojomala was one of the founding participants of Bump ‘n Grind’s Analog Market at 923 Gist Ave. They swiftly became renowned for their meticulously curated collection of “cool stuff,” making it the perfect destination for uncovering forgotten treasures or discovering new favorites.

The term “Mojomala” refers to a unique combination of names. This family-run business takes its name from the first names of the daughters, Madeleine Olivia and Josie, as well as the owner, Michael Abate, and his wife, Laura.

In their new permanent home, Mojomala is expanding its offerings and operating hours. They will be open from Tuesday to Friday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
