J. Hollinger’s Launches Real Food for Kids Giving Tuesday Campaign

J. Hollinger’s in downtown Silver Spring has begun a Giving Tuesday fundraising effort for the McLean, Va.-based nonprofit Real Food for Kids.

The Real Food for Kids: Chefs Feeding Families program, involving local chefs, restaurants, and nearby farms, is dedicated to providing nourishing meals and fresh, locally-grown produce boxes to children and families experiencing food and nutrition insecurity in the area.

Since its launch in March 2020, Chefs Feeding Families has delivered over 350,000 plant-based meals from up to 23 locations in the region.

Additionally, Real Food for Kids hosts a yearly Culinary Challenge event, which gives students the opportunity to take on the role of school nutrition professionals, creating school meals that showcase the diverse culinary traditions in their communities.

Takoma Park Middle School won first place in this year’s Culinary Challenge.

“Your 100% tax-deductible donation of any amount will ensure that additional children in our community will have access to the healthy meals they need to keep their minds and bodies strong,” J. Hollinger’s owner Jerry Hollinger said via email. “I understand that a monetary donation may not be feasible for everyone. That’s totally okay and understandable. Another option is to share this message with your networks and help us spread the word. I appreciate any and all of your efforts.”
