Multiple holiday events are scheduled to provide enjoyment for people of all ages this weekend.
Alongside the Downtown Silver Spring and Zinnia holiday markets, the Artspace Holiday Pop-Up Shop will feature jewelry, paintings, mixed-media wall art, ceramics, greeting cards, ornaments, and more for sale. The event will occur from 1-5 p.m. Saturday in the lobby at Artspace Silver Spring, located at 801 Sligo Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.
Indulge in hot cocoa at local restaurants and cafes during Main Street Takoma’s Cocoa Crawl from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Feel free to make one stop or visit multiple places; there are also options for adults. Participating businesses will offer disposable mugs or to-go cups. Prices and cup sizes will vary depending on the business. A list of participating businesses can be found on the Takoma Cocoa Crawl website.
Additionally, visit Starbucks at The Blairs Shops at 1316 East-West Highway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for live music, snacks, and a chance to take a photo with Santa on the patio. Share your pictures on social media and tag #HolidaysAtTheBlairsDistrict.
Other holiday-themed events this weekend and beyond include:
- The Akhmedova Ballet Academy will perform Nutcracker Night and Mini Nutcracker on Saturday, December 16 at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- MHP will host Santa, S’mores & Spiced Drinks at Flower Avenue Urban Park from 2-4 p.m. and Santa Social at The Urban Winery from 2-6 p.m. Saturday.
- The AFI Silver will host screenings of holiday classics from December 17 through Christmas Eve.
- Silver Spring Ice Skating, the outdoor ice-skating rink at Veterans Plaza, is open daily, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with two-hour skating sessions.
