Montgomery County Police have released new surveillance footage of the suspects and their vehicle from the armed robbery at Shalla Restaurant & Bar in downtown Silver Spring last month.
At approximately 12:20 a.m. on December 21, 2023, officers from the 3rd District responded to a reported commercial armed robbery at the Shalla Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar on Sligo Ave. According to a press release from the MCPD, detectives investigating the incident determined that three masked men entered the restaurant; two of the men were carrying firearms, and one was holding a red bag. The armed men demanded personal belongings from the restaurant’s patrons, who complied with their demands. The suspects then left the restaurant with the stolen items and headed toward the District.
Detectives reviewed the security camera footage from a nearby business and obtained a video that depicted the individuals leaving the area in a red or maroon four-door sedan (video below).
According to MCPD, the suspects are 1) a heavy-set male wearing a black BMW hooded sweatshirt with black sweatpants and carrying a shotgun; 2) a male wearing all-black clothing, a black jacket, and carrying a long rifle firearm; and 3) a male wearing a black jacket, white sweatshirt, black pants, and a white facemask.
