Exclusive: Jonna Michelle Photography and Locavino Team Up for Maryland Wine Month Event

March marks Maryland Wine Month, and in celebration, two local businesses have joined forces to present a unique community gathering.

Downtown Silver Spring wine café Locavino is partnering with local photographer Jonna Huseman of Jonna Michelle Photography to host an art show and tasting event with a Maryland theme on Saturday, March 2, from 5-9 p.m.

Attendees can look forward to viewing original artwork by Jonna Michelle Photography, featuring picturesque scenes from five Maryland wineries. The artist will be present, offering guests the chance to discover more about Maryland’s wine industry through tastings and conversations with winemakers themselves.

“Here in the Mid-Atlantic, most people associate wines and wineries with Virginia. We’re aiming to change that,” said Locavino co-owner Justin Wallace. “Maryland has a vibrant and deep-seated wine culture, and we want people to know the incredible stories of Maryland winemakers. In some cases, these businesses have supported our local economy for generations. Through our Maryland Wine Month event, we’re shining a light on a true hidden gem and inviting people to join us in learning more about — and even falling in love with — Maryland wines and winemakers.”

Locavino, which opened its doors in 2019 and specializes in wines from Maryland, Italy, and Spain, can be found at 8519 Fenton Street in Downtown Silver Spring. The wine café has been honored with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for four consecutive years, with its first win in 2020.
