County Executive Marc Elrich has announced openings for four positions on the Silver Spring Urban District Advisory Committee.
The committee is seeking one resident of the urban district and three small business representatives with fewer than 25 employees.
The 11-member committee plays an important role in offering guidance and recommendations to the county government and the director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center. Members offer information and guidance to the county government and the director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center concerning promotions, maintenance, service levels, and budgetary recommendations for the urban district (PDF).
According to the application website, the county encourages diversity among applicants, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds, professions, genders, geographical locations, abilities, ethnicities, and age groups. A crucial requirement is that members of county boards, committees, and commissions cannot serve on multiple groups simultaneously.
Appointments are contingent on County Council confirmation. Once appointed, members are required to undergo training on the Maryland Open Meetings Act and fundamental parliamentary procedure.
The application form and additional information can be found online. Once submitted, applications are reviewed by the council for confirmation and may become public during this process. The deadline for applications is March 6th.
