Starbucks is set to permanently close its location at 915 Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring at the end of this month, the Source has confirmed.
According to an employee working at the store this morning, the closure is scheduled for noon on March 30 due to “safety concerns.” The Seattle-based coffee chain has closed several locations nationwide since 2022, including Union Station, citing the same reason.
Starbucks opened a second downtown Silver Spring location at The Blairs Shops last summer, replacing the location next to the Silver Spring Metro station that closed in 2020.
The Starbucks kiosks located within Safeway and Giant stores in downtown Silver Spring are licensed establishments, not directly operated by the Starbucks company.
As of now, there is no information available regarding a replacement tenant for the space. We have reached out to Downtown Silver Spring management and will provide updates as soon as additional details emerge.
