Taco Bell Cantina is set to open Thursday at 8662 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring.
Store management told the Source that they may open by dinner this evening, but will “definitely open” on Thursday.
We reported in January that construction was near the finish line at the former home of Pollo Campero, with electronic menu boards, soft drink fountain dispensers, and self-ordering kiosks installed recently, along with booth seating. There’s also a walk-up window near the entrance for faster service, a feature found in all Taco Bell Cantina locations since the first location opened in San Francisco in 2015.
Pollo Campero closed in late 2021.
Apart from the regular Taco Bell menu, the Cantina serves alcoholic beverages like wine, beer, sangria, and “twisted freezes.” While urban in-line locations do not offer alcohol, they do provide all other Cantina amenities, according to the fan site Living Más.
The county’s Board of License Commissioners approved Taco Bell Cantina’s liquor license application in January.
This new Taco Bell Cantina, which is open 24/7, is the fifth in the region, joining existing locations in Court House, Old Town Alexandria, Columbia Heights, and Chinatown.
