Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Drive, which occurred shortly after midnight on Monday.
At approximately 12:02 a.m., officers from the 4th District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Drive.
According to an official press release, detectives’ preliminary investigations revealed that the adult male pedestrian, identified as 26-year-old Jacques Price of Silver Spring, was riding his skateboard on the westbound lane of Veirs Mill Road just before Monterrey Drive when he was struck by a white Acura TL traveling in the same direction.
Price was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of an Acura, which appears to be around a 2009 model, left the accident site after the collision. It is suspected that the front right corner of the vehicle is damaged, including a missing part of the bumper cover, a broken or missing headlight, a fog light, and a parking light. Furthermore, the windshield and windows may have suffered damage.
The death marks the second pedestrian fatality in three days, according to MoCo360. On Friday night, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in a white Acura that may have been a model year between 2009 and 2012 on Randolph Road.
Police spokesperson Casandra Tressler told MoCo360 on Monday that different cars were involved in the two collisions.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives have requested that anyone with information about the collision contact them via email at [email protected] or phone at (240) 773-6620. The investigation is still ongoing.
