Montgomery County Police have arrested the driver allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident on Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton.
On Monday, April 8, 42-year-old Gilver Yuviny Zelaya Diaz from Silver Spring allegedly hit and killed 26-year-old Jacques Price, also from Silver Spring, and fled the scene, according to an MCPD press release.
Through their investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives located Zelaya Diaz’s 2009 Acura TL in the driveway of his Middle Road residence on April 12. After tracing the vehicle’s registration, detectives initiated a search for Zelaya Diaz, who remained at large until officers located him in Silver Spring on Wednesday.
Zelaya Diaz was subsequently arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he faces charges of failure to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving a death.
