Royal Farms Submits Commercial Building Permit Application for New Silver Spring Location

Royal Farms has moved closer to opening in Silver Spring, the company’s second location in Montgomery County.

Last year, we reported that the Baltimore-based gas station and convenience store chain had filed plans with the county to convert the existing Sunoco gas station at 9475 Georgia Ave. in Montgomery Hills into a Royal Farms location.

Commercial building permit applications were filed with the county’s Department of Permitting Services earlier this month.

Construction and opening timelines have yet to be announced. According to Robert Dyer, the upcoming Silver Spring location does not yet appear on the “Coming Soon” section of the Royal Farms website.

Royal Farms, founded in 1959 and famous for its fried chicken, has rapidly expanded over the past few years; Montgomery County’s first location opened in Gaithersburg in 2022.
