Metrobus Assault, Robbery Investigation: Montgomery County Police Seek Leads

Montgomery County Police are investigating a robbery and assault incident that occurred aboard a Metrobus on March 7 in the vicinity of Dawson and Georgia Avenues in Wheaton.

Detectives have released surveillance photographs and are seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect.

According to an MCPD press release, the preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 3:42 p.m. on March 7, the victim was riding a Metrobus in the area of Grandview Avenue and Veirs Mill Road when the suspect boarded the vehicle. Following an altercation between the victim and the suspect, the suspect physically assaulted the victim and then seized the victim’s phone, smashing it on the floor.

After the altercation, the bus stopped in the area of Dawson and Georgia Avenues, and the victim fled the bus.

Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, the detectives obtained a description of the suspect, who was described as Hispanic, around 20 years of age, standing at 5 feet 9 inches, and having a thin build. The suspect was wearing a black jumpsuit, black leggings, and black socks with designs of hearts and lips.
