USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards have announced their top picks for various categories, including the “Best Gas Station for Food.”
Royal Farms is leading the pack and has outshone its convenience store competitors like Sheetz and Wawa. According to USA Today’s editors, Royal Farms stood out for its all-day breakfast menu, make-your-own milkshake bars at select locations, and their renowned fried chicken offerings:
Royal Farms offers a breakfast menu that’s available any time of the day or night. That’s in addition to other hot food menu items, including sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, and their popular fried chicken. The stores also sell a wide variety of packaged snacks along with fountain and bottled beverages. Some locations even feature a Blending Bar, where you can craft a milkshake.
In addition to Royal Farms’ win, The Farmhouse Bistro in Poolesville secured the #9 spot on USA Today’s 10 Best New Restaurants list.
“We are thrilled and honored to receive the title of ‘Best Gas Station for Food’ from USA Today’s 10Best Awards,” Royal Farms public relations manager Aliyah Atayee said in a press release. “This accolade is a testament to the persistent dedication and unwavering commitment of our team members who strive to provide exceptional food and service to our valued customers.”
Last year, we reported that the Baltimore-based gas station and convenience store chain had filed plans with the county to convert an existing Sunoco gas station at 9475 Georgia Ave. in Montgomery Hills into a Royal Farms location. Commercial building permit applications were submitted to the county’s Department of Permitting Services last month; however, construction and opening timelines have yet to be announced.
The upcoming Silver Spring location is not yet listed in the “Coming Soon” section of Royal Farms’ website; however, The MoCo Show reports that the store is expected to open in 2025.
Founded in 1959 by Cloverland Farms Dairy, Royal Farms has experienced rapid expansion in recent years; Montgomery County’s first location opened in Gaithersburg in 2022.
