Thunderbolts Seek Momentum with Trio of Home Games Starting Sunday

Fresh off their first win of the season, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts have three home games at Blair High School and are optimistic that their deep pitching staff will find its groove.

The Thunderbolts host the D.C. Grays on Sunday, June 9 (6 p.m.), the Olney Cropdusters on Monday (7 p.m.), and the Southern Maryland Senators on Tuesday (7 p.m.). The Senators contest is the conclusion of a suspended game in which the Senators are leading 4-0.

On Friday night at Blair, the T-Bolts defeated the Alexandria Aces, one of the Cal Ripken Senior Collegiate Baseball League’s perennial powers, by a score of 13-6. Third baseman John Dunion went 5-for-5 with six RBIs, and his output was matched by a 5-hit night from fellow infielder Josh Erd. Erd is leading the league with an astonishing .833 batting average. Bryce Greene was the pitching star on Friday with four solid innings and five strikeouts.

The team’s record is now 1-3, and it showed resilience after a deflating defeat earlier in the week against Bethesda Big Train. The T-Bolts led that game 9-4 before falling to a late rally.

Tickets for the T-Bolts can be purchased in advance at TBolts.org or at the gate. Tickets are $6 for adults, $2 for youth ages 6-17, and free for children 5 and under.
