D.C. 22-Year-Old Trevon Hatcherson-Ross Arrested in 2023 Metrobus Homicide Case

Montgomery County Police announced on Monday that they have arrested and charged 22-year-old Trevon Hatcherson-Ross of Washington, D.C., in connection with the shooting death of 19-year-old Justice T’Ziyan Elliott of Silver Spring.

The shooting occurred on a Metrobus in White Oak last year.

On Friday, February 17, 2023, at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers from the Third District were patrolling the Vista at White Oak apartment complex when they noticed a Metrobus stopped on Lockwood Drive. Upon stopping to investigate, the officers found that a shooting had occurred inside the bus.

The investigation revealed that Elliott was seated at the back of the bus when the suspect boarded and confronted him. After a verbal exchange, the suspect pulled out a handgun, shot Elliott, and fled the scene. Elliott, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been taken off the bus before the officers arrived and provided life-saving measures until the county’s Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived.

Detectives later identified Hatcherson-Ross as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless endangerment-related charges, MCPD said in a press release issued Monday.

Hatcherson-Ross was extradited from a D.C. detention center to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on June 14 and is currently being held without bond.
