Weather-Postponed Chalk Fest to Brighten Downtown Silver Spring This Weekend

Downtown Silver Spring’s annual Chalk Fest will take place this Saturday after being rescheduled from its original May 4 date due to inclement weather.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Ellsworth Drive between Fenton Street and Georgia Ave. and will feature Chalk Riot’s new seasonal street mural, “Sweet Network.” Attendees can enjoy a full day of local artists’ work, group demonstrations, music by DJ L. Boogie, and food and drink options from BurgerFi and Nando’s PERi-PERi.

All 5’x5′ chalk art gallery spaces have been reserved. A waiting list is available, and contributions range from $5 to $25 on a sliding scale. All proceeds benefit the Silver Spring nonprofit Arts on the Block.

Additionally, customers can enter to win a “DTSS Family Date Night for Four.” To enter, text ‘CHALK’ to (301) 750-1287 for a chance to win a $100 BurgerFi gift card and four tickets to Regal Majestic.
