Former Underground Pizza Company Spot Now Leasing in Downtown Silver Spring

The former Underground Pizza Company location at 8235 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring is now available for lease.

UPC closed in June because the lease they had taken over from Olazzo, which closed in 2021, had expired. In an Instagram announcement, UPC stated that they chose not to renew the lease, saying they “felt it was time to move on from our Georgia Avenue location.”

The 1,344-square-foot property between Palace Halal Food and Crown Beer & Wine is available for lease through Jonathan Weiss of SCS Realty Advisors.

Concert promoter Evan Weinstein established UPC in 2020 after local concert venues closed due to the pandemic. Weinstein, who also owns Steez Promo, started selling Detroit-style pizzas at local pop-up events and used social media for marketing, rapidly gaining a loyal customer base.

After the success of several local pop-up events, UPC opened its first location at Power Plant Live! in Baltimore in 2020, followed by openings in downtown Silver Spring and Towson in 2022. Later, it was recognized as one of Eater’s “7 Exciting New Pizza Places to Try Around D.C.

According to The MoCo Show, UPC opened a ghost kitchen at Sports & Social at 1314 U St. NW in the District earlier this year.
