Fire Erupts in Downtown Silver Spring Parking Garage, Damages Six Vehicles

Six vehicles sustained damage in a fire at a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring on Monday evening, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to the fifth floor of the Town Square Garage (Garage 61) on Ellsworth Drive at around 6:20 p.m. on Monday for a reported fire. Piringer reported on X (formerly Twitter) that a fire involving six vehicles on the upper level of the parking garage resulted in an evacuation. No injuries were reported.

Piringer said the fire, which caused approximately $80,000 in damage, had been deemed accidental. A fire previously occurred at the same garage in 2022, caused by a malfunction in a pickup truck’s engine compartment.
