Police Investigate Fatal Collision: Jeep Driver Hits Pedestrian in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police are investigating a collision that resulted in the death of 30-year-old Aman Abraham Gebreyesus of Silver Spring on Saturday evening.

Police officers from the 3rd District and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched to the intersection of University Boulevard East and Langley Drive around 8:59 p.m. on Saturday in response to a report of a pedestrian collision. According to a press release, the pedestrian, identified as Gebreyesus, was crossing the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard East at Langley Drive when a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck him.

The driver stayed at the scene, where Gebreyesus was pronounced dead, MCPD said.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Crash Reconstruction Unit at (240) 773-6620.
