One of several incidents involving juveniles and stolen vehicles on Thursday resulted in minor injuries to one 3rd District officer when their vehicle was intentionally struck, according to Montgomery County Police Acting Commander Jason Cokinos.
Cokinos posted to X (formerly Twitter) that officers in White Oak spotted an occupied stolen car, which resulted in one police car being struck intentionally (pictured) and one juvenile taken into custody.
Officers later spotted another stolen vehicle that fled towards Prince George’s County, which officers did not chase for safety reasons.
In a third incident, officers located another stolen vehicle on New Hampshire Avenue, where plainclothes officers converged on the car to apprehend the juvenile suspect. Instead of immediately surrendering, the suspect tried to ram multiple police cars, tried to jump out of the vehicle window to flee unsuccessfully, and was arrested.
“What is enraging is the behavior is reckless and dangerous,” Cokinos said.

More juvenile auto theft incidents/arrests… again… 😡
What is enraging is the behavior is reckless and dangerous. We had an @mcpnews 3rd District officer hurt yesterday (luckily minor injuries) in one incident and in another incident the juvenile offender tried to ram… pic.twitter.com/7R00pvSMhz
