Downtown Silver Spring Welcomes Back Fuddruckers This Fall

Houston-based “World’s Greatest Hamburgers” chain Fuddruckers will return to Downtown Silver Spring this fall and reopen in its previous location.

After Fuddruckers announced their return to D.C. and Silver Spring on X (formerly Twitter) this past Monday, Downtown Silver Spring management confirmed to the Source on Wednesday that the previous location at 819 Ellsworth Drive, which closed in December 2019, will reopen in the coming months.

A specific opening timeline has not been announced.

Fuddruckers’ parent company, Luby’s, sold the chain’s 92 locations to franchisee Nicholas Perkins and his North Carolina-based Black Titan Holdings group, a subsidiary of Perkins’ Black Titan Investment Corporation, for $18.5 million in 2021. Luby’s had worked on the sale since late 2020 after shareholders approved the parent company’s dissolution and liquidation.

At the transaction’s close in 2021, Luby’s said the sale would also make Perkins and Black Titan Holdings the largest Fuddruckers franchise operators.

“We’re excited to be purchasing Fuddruckers and look forward to working with Fuddruckers’ many dedicated, highly capable franchisees to further build this brand,” Perkins said in 2021. “As a Fuddruckers franchisee, I have a vested interest in ensuring that all Fuddruckers franchisees have the resources, infrastructure and operational and marketing support they need to maximize their return on investment.”

According to The MoCo Show, the nearest open Fuddruckers location is in Ashburn, Va. Previous Montgomery County locations included Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Downtown Silver Spring, to which it will return.
