Police Announce Arrest in Nolte Local Park Double Homicide

A Silver Spring teen has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with a double homicide at Nolte Local Park during Memorial Day weekend, according to Montgomery County Police.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division identified 15-year-old Onyx Santana Austin as a suspect in the shooting deaths of 20-year-olds D’Andre Wint of Lanham and Quincy Johnson of Takoma Park during their investigation.

Austin was arrested at Dulles International Airport on Monday, police said.

Wint and Johnson were discovered with gunshot wounds at Nolte Local Park on Sunday, May 26, and were declared dead at the scene.

The families of Wint and Johnson initiated GoFundMe campaigns to cover memorial expenses, raising over $30,000 each.

Following the shootings, detectives collected evidence linking Austin to the crimes and obtained a warrant for his arrest on Monday, August 26, according to a press release. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested Austin upon his return to the United States after fleeing the country following the shooting.

Austin has been charged as an adult and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
