Montgomery County Police have identified 34-year-old Jamar Emmanuel Jenifer of D.C. as the victim in the fatal shooting near the Holiday Inn Express in downtown Silver Spring on Labor Day.
Police said in a statement issued Monday afternoon that 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service personnel responded to the 8000 block of 13th Street in downtown Silver Spring at approximately 9:44 a.m. for a report of one-down.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in an alley with gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Jenifer, who was identified in a press release issued on Tuesday, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are actively investigating this homicide, and there are currently no suspects in custody, MCPD said.
