Just Chicken has closed after four months at Solaire Social in downtown Silver Spring. According to the food hall, its final day of operation was September 17.
The restaurant, which specializes in a limited menu of chicken strips, sandwiches, fries, and unique sauces, originally opened in 2022 in Columbus, Ohio. It expanded to Charlotte, N.C., earlier this year and was one of the first vendors at Solaire Social when the 13,000-square-foot food hall opened last May.
El Jefe Wood Fired Pizza joined Solaire Social in July.
Local food critic Larry McLeod, also known as Big Schlim to his followers, awarded Just Chicken’s Just Loaded Fries the coveted STAMP rating in his review posted on Instagram last June.
“It’s a small menu…GET EVERYTHING!!!,” McLeod wrote.
Alex Tsironis from The MoCo Show concurred with Big Schlim, stating in his review posted the same week that “the Just Loaded Fries are currently my favorite affordable meal in Montgomery County. At under $15, it’s affordable, tastes great, and was enough to fill two of us up at lunch.”
Akhtar Nawab, the founder of Brooklyn-based HospitalityHQ, which operates Solaire Social, has yet to determine a replacement tenant for the departed Just Chicken.
“We can confirm that Just Chicken is no longer at Solaire Social,” Nawab said. “We are in the process of introducing a new and interesting flavor to Silver Spring’s diverse market. Stay tuned for an announcement of more delicious food.”
Solaire Social is located on the ground floor of the Solaire 8200 Dixon apartment building in downtown Silver Spring.
