Officials from the Montgomery County Police and the health and permitting departments took action against unlicensed street vendors in downtown Silver Spring on Saturday night.
According to MCPD 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos, officials acted after receiving complaints and cited several vendors for violations, including non-permitted and unsafe street food sales.
“We found food sale locations that were not licensed and not meeting health standards,” Cokinos wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “No hand washing or ability to sanitize, no gloves, meat laying out… etc.
“We want people to make money and be safe,” Cokinos continued. “Just have to do it the right way!”
