Downtown Silver Spring Gets Ready for Roaming Rooster as Signage Goes Up

Roaming Rooster has installed exterior signage as the local fried chicken chain prepares to open its new location in Downtown Silver Spring.

In January, we reported that construction had started at the former Flip’d by IHOP location at 8537 Georgia Ave., which closed in 2023 when IHOP ended its quick-serve concept.

The D.C.-based RAMMY Award finalist began as a food truck in 2015 and quickly became popular for its variety of fried chicken sandwiches, tenders, wings, and more. According to a company representative, permitting delays stalled construction at the Downtown Silver Spring location for several months but restarted over the summer.

The Downtown Silver Spring location is estimated to open in February or March 2025 and will be Roaming Rooster’s third restaurant in Montgomery County, following Pike & Rose in North Bethesda and the Firstfield Shopping Center in Gaithersburg.
