Montgomery Parks announced last week that the Wheaton Ice Arena will temporarily close this spring to install a new refrigeration system.
Public skating sessions, camps, programs, and rentals will be unavailable during the closure from mid-April to early October of this year.
Cabin John Ice Rink, which features three rinks, a dance studio, four party rooms, a pro shop, and a concession stand, will add skating sessions and programs to offset lost availability due to the closure of the Wheaton Ice Arena.
“It is time for us to update the facility’s refrigeration system so that it can continue operations for many years to come,” said Montgomery Parks Enterprise Division Chief Christy Turnbull. “We plan on accommodating staff, instructors, and customers at the Cabin John Ice Rink while the Wheaton Ice Arena is being renovated. We recognize the impact of this closure on our patrons and apologize for any inconvenience.”
