Jerry’s Subs and Pizza in Downtown Silver Spring to Close on January 31

Jerry’s Subs and Pizza in downtown Silver Spring will permanently close on Friday, January 31, due to a dispute over its lease renewal.

According to The MoCo Show, which first reported the closure, the restaurant at 8517 Colesville Rd. is the last Jerry’s location in Montgomery County.

The downtown Silver Spring location opened in 2019, replacing the Spring Center restaurant at 8647 16th St., which closed to make way for the Maryland Purple Line.

Founded in Wheaton in 1954 and with corporate offices in Gaithersburg, Jerry’s Subs and Pizza is recognized for its diverse cheesesteaks and pizzas, which it markets as “authentic New York style.”

Additionally, the local chain offers subs, salads, and sides, such as fries, fried mozzarella sticks, and jalapeños, for in-store dining, pickup, or delivery at select locations.

A replacement tenant for the downtown Silver Spring location has not been identified.
