Montgomery Parks officials announced this week that the Ellsworth Urban Dog Park in downtown Silver Spring will close on Monday, February 3, for a six-month renovation project.
The construction project was scheduled to start last November but was delayed due to weather and procurement issues.
Ellsworth Urban Dog Park features two separate, fully enclosed, and accessible areas: one for small dogs weighing under 20 pounds and another for large dogs weighing over 20 pounds.
The park will be closed through August for construction improvements, including constructing a retaining wall along the sidewalk next to the large dog park sunshade and upgrades to the gates and entrances.
During the closure, ADA parking will be closed near the shade structure, the sidewalks by Colesville Road, and the dog park, but the playground and common areas of Ellsworth Urban Park will remain open.
