Baltimore-based Nigerian restaurant Platinum Amala has expanded to downtown Silver Spring and is now open at the Solaire Social food hall.
Khadijah Abiola and her son Basith Salami opened the eatery in 2019 and expanded in 2020 with a food truck and a Lexington Market location.
In addition to the brick-and-mortar locations, Platinum Amala offers homemade meals for hospitals and Amazon fulfillment centers and caters for weddings and corporate events.
Diners at Solaire Social can expect authentic West African dishes such as jollof rice, fufu (a dough-like dish typically served with vegetables and stews), spicy meat skewers known as suyas, and a variety of chicken, fish, and goat stews.
“Every dish is a testament to their commitment to tradition, quality, and the joy of sharing meals that feel like home. This is more than a restaurant — it’s a family legacy, a celebration of culture, and a promise to bring people together through the universal language of great food.”
Solaire Social is located at 8200 Dixon Ave. in downtown Silver Spring and online at solairesocial.com. Parking is available at the Bonifant-Dixon Garage.
