SPRUNG! Comedy Festival Brings Eight Laugh-Packed Shows to Downtown Silver Spring

The SPRUNG! Comedy Festival is returning to the Black Box Theatre in downtown Silver Spring for four nights this week, featuring national headliners and local comedians to celebrate community and comedy.

The third annual comedy festival organized by Silver Spring-based Improbable Comedy will feature popular shows like “Law & Order Comedy,” “DC Science Comedy,” and “Desi Comedy,” along with a special collaboration with Story District for “Funnier than Fiction.”

Attendees can also enjoy a complimentary cocktail with dinner before the shows at the nearby All Set Restaurant & Bar as part of the “Comedy and Cocktails” promotion.

The lineup for the SPRUNG! Comedy Festival includes:

Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 7 p.m., Improbable Comedy presents The “MOTHER of All Comedy Shows.” This signature presentation of Improbable Comedy highlights a lineup of local women and non-binary performers. The MOTHER of All Comedy Shows is comedy by women, funny for everyone. This show brings headliner Tanya Lee Davis to the stage along with special guests Joey Friedman, Jenny Cavallero, and Nikki Knowles.

Friday, March 28, 2025, at 9 p.m., Improbable Comedy presents “Law & Order.” Law & Order Comedy turns laughter into law as attorneys, former criminals, and law enforcement bring hilarity to the often “not funny” criminal justice system. This one-of-a-kind show is a co-production of Improbable Comedy and Seven Black Minutes. Performers include Anthony Oakes, Elizabeth Booker Houston, Justo, Jasmine Burton, and Timmy Hall.

Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 5 p.m., Improbable Comedy presents: “Science Comedy Night.” DC Science Comedy is a comedy show founded and hosted by science journalist and stand-up comedian Kasha Patel, featuring Robert Mac and guests Ella Al-Shamahi and Noah Crowley. This new show to the festival mixes fun facts with stand-up comedy and is all about science, so you can geek out and laugh it up.

Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 7 p.m., Improbable Comedy presents “Comedy as a Second Language.” Comedy as a Second Language is a live, interactive show featuring the stand-up comedy of immigrant and first-generation performers. This is an audience favorite of the SPRUNG! Festival, returning for another year. Enjoy lots of fun with our comics as they share stories and jokes about their lives and families. Featuring Kim Villamera, Hector Castro, Brittany Carney, and David Balaguizi.

Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 9 p.m., Improbable Comedy presents: “Joke Sistas.” Joke Sistas is the unofficial sisterhood of Gwynn Factor, Moonie, Adayla Banks, Cynthia Overton, Althea McFarland, and Joanna Briley. Joke Sistas will have you laughing and loving this diverse group of Black women comedians. These laughs come straight from the Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest, partnering with Improbable for the third year.
