All Set Restaurant & Bar in downtown Silver Spring recently launched the Suya Sundays pop-up series in collaboration with local street food concept Suya Factory led by Samuel “DJ Chick” Mobit.
Every Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Chef-owner Ed Reavis and DJ Chick will serve suya, a traditional West African dish made of marinated, skewered, and grilled meats, with various sides available for dine-in, takeout, and delivery.
According to a press release, the Suya Sundays collaboration began when Reavis met Chick outside All Set while smoking meats for the restaurant’s regional barbecue sister concept, Money Muscle BBQ. After learning about Chick’s background in cooking suya and other West African dishes for large family gatherings, Reavis recognized the opportunity to merge Chick’s expertise with his pitmaster skills for a special pop-up menu.
The current Suya Sundays menu features three protein options—beef suya with French fries, chicken with All Set’s mac and cheese, and snapper with acheke and a cucumber and tomato salad—each priced at $32 except for the snapper, which is $40. Sides of pickled onions and red pepper sauce accompany all dishes.
In addition to the featured items, guests can enjoy All Set’s full food and beverage menus and Afrobeats music provided by local DJ Etn.
