Montgomery Parks will celebrate the opening of a new carousel at Wheaton Regional Park on Saturday by offering half-price rides all day.
According to a press release, the new carousel features colorful, hand-painted fiberglass horses and zebras and two bench-like chariots, one of which is ADA-accessible.
The new carousel replaces the Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel, which is being refurbished and moved to the Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park in Clarksburg. The park’s expansion began last summer and is currently still under construction.
The new carousel at Wheaton Regional Park is next to the miniature train station and close to the Shorefield Road entrance. It will be open on weekends until October, with extended hours on holidays and during spring and summer breaks for Montgomery County Public Schools.
More information and operating hours are available at the Wheaton Miniature Train & Carousel webpage at montgomeryparks.org.
