Former Jerry’s Subs and Pizza Spot Open for Leasing in Downtown Silver Spring

According to signage posted at the storefront, the former location of Jerry’s Subs and Pizza in downtown Silver Spring is currently available for lease.

The 1,403-square-foot space in the Hale Center building at 8517 Colesville Road became vacant when Jerry’s closed in January due to a dispute over the lease renewal.

Jerry’s began serving customers in downtown Silver Spring in 2019, taking over from the Spring Center location at 8647 16th St., which closed to make way for the Maryland Purple Line.

According to The MoCo Show, the downtown Silver Spring restaurant was the last Jerry’s location in Montgomery County when it closed in January.

Founded in 1954 in Wheaton, Jerry’s Subs and Pizza has corporate offices in Gaithersburg and is known for its wide selection of cheesesteaks and pizzas, which are marketed as “authentic New York style.”

Jerry’s also offers subs, salads, and various sides such as fries, fried mozzarella sticks, and jalapeños, all available for in-store dining, pickup, or delivery at select locations.

In 2013, Chevy Chase private equity firm Blackstreet Capital Management acquired the naming rights to Jerry’s after purchasing franchisor Jerry’s Systems Inc., which had 66 locations across D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia.

D.C.-based commercial real estate broker KLNB leases the Hale Center. Previous tenants of the building include M&T Bank, World of Wireless, and Qdoba Mexican Eats, which closed in 2018.
