Local Restaurant Week Continues Through Sunday

Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week continues through Sunday at about three dozen local restaurants.

Councilmember Tom Hucker (D-District 5), who spearheaded the local promotional effort in 2015, hosted a kickoff event Tuesday for this year’s week at Republic in Takoma Park.

“Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week is a six-day culinary celebration highlighting the variety of dining options in the area,” said Hucker in a press release. “The participating restaurants embody the diversity of our community and offer cuisines from America and around the world, including Mexico, Ethiopia, China, Korea, Cuba and the Middle East. The affordable prices provide a great incentive to come to Silver Spring and Takoma Park for the first time or for regular diners to try something new.”

Participating restaurants are offering two- and three-course lunches for $12 and $17, respectively. Two- and three-course dinners will cost $17 and $27.

“I love restaurant week,” added Jennifer Meltzer, general manager and co-owner of All Set Restaurant & Bar in downtown Silver Spring, which also participated in 2015 and 2016. “It’s great for the staff and the guests, it establishes a good sort of social culture in the area and it shows a great community spirit.”
