A community meeting will be held tonight (Nov. 28) to discuss another phase of Pepco’s efforts to upgrade its infrastructure in the Silver Spring/Takoma Park service area.
Expected to start construction shortly, this phase will include installation of three underground lines connecting the Sligo substation on Cameron Street with the Linden substation near the intersection of Montgomery Street and Fraser Avenue.
Other streets that will be affected in Georgia Avenue, Linden Lane, Seminary Road, Hale Place and Brookville Road, according to documents the company has circulated to customers in the affected area.
Work will take place weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with occasional weekend and night work possible. Residents and drivers can expect lane closures and detours while construction is underway.
The company said it is working with the State Highway Administration and the county to create traffic control plans designed to ensure the safety of the public and its workers, and keep traffic disruption to a minimum.
This work is expected to be completed in May 2021.
